On Open Days, just follow the Yellow NGS signs. There is parking at the house for only about a dozen cars, which we like to reserve for those who can't make the walk up the hill. So it would be appreciated if the more able-bodied would park in the town and walk up, or park on Hampsfell Road and come through the lower entrance.
To get to Hampsfell Road follow Main Street through town, passed the Post Office on the right and Higginsons Butchers on theleft. At thejunction turn right into Pig Lane, then immediate left into Hampsfell Road. Continue for 200 yards past a house called Yewbarrow. Turn left at the brow of the hill along a track signposted "Charney Wood / Yewbarrow Wood". Then on the immediate left is the drive to Yewbarrow House. If you come to the Hampsfell Hotel, you've gone too far.
