Finding us

On Open Days, just follow the Yellow NGS signs. There is parking at the house for only about a dozen cars, which we like to reserve for those who can't make the walk up the hill. So it would be appreciated if the more able-bodied would park in the town and walk up, or park on Hampsfell Road and come through the lower entrance.

To get to Hampsfell Road follow Main Street through town, passed Post Office on right and Higginsons Butchers on left. At junction turn right into Pig Lane, then immediate left into Hampsfell Road. Continue for 200 yards past a house called Yewbarrow. Turn left at brow of hill along track signposted "Yewbarrow Wood / Charney Well". Then on immediate left is drive to Yewbarrow Hse. If you come to the Hampsfell Hotel, you've gone too far.
