The piece of land at the northernmost part of the garden, which backs onto Yewbarrow Wood, was covered in brambles when we took over. For the first few years we kept a polytunnel there, which was practical, but ugly and has now been replaced with a much better looking Orangery. It is home to some mammoth Colocasias, Ensettes and Strelitzias, which tripled in size within a year of their arrival. On the terrace outside is a mosaic by Maggy Howarth which was originally a focal point in my Beekeeper’s Garden at the Hampton Court Flower Show. The Aviary from the Beekeeper’s Garden has been reconstructed behind the Meathop Bridge Arch.
