The terraced beds on either side of the Orangery are used for Dahlia trial beds and for cut flowers, which we supply to our hotels. We call these beds ‘trial beds’ because Dahlia seeds rarely run true and we have had a lot of fun collecting new varieties, including the very dark leaved “Yewbarrow Black”.
